Youth of Rainbow (YR) was founded in
2016 by a group of LGBT youth composed of young intellectuals of mix gender
with different age and background in response to the dismal suicide, homeless,
and dropout rates of self-identified gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender
youth in Azerbaijan. YR is a nonprofit, non-government, non-political
organization. The main aim of this unification effort is promotion of LGBT
youth’s rights through awareness raising of the communities, organizing and
mobilizing of their rights through establishing strong networks among LGBT
youth, youth NGOs and provision of capacity building trainings for the LGBT
youth NGOs, fund raising for the member NGOs of YR and strengthening
co-operation linkages with the local authorities in Azerbaijan. The
organization has partnership with local and regional NGOs, schools and
universities. The Organization’s main focus
policy is the development of LGBT youth by supporting and response to their
felt needs regardless of age, gender, knowledge, ethnic, etc. The most pressing
needs of the groups are identified through meetings and a possible solution is
been working out in partnership with them. The target beneficiaries
of the organization are young people and adolescents self-identified gay,
lesbian, bisexual, and transgender between the age of 14 and 31.
Objectives:
-Advocate for activism on LGBT youth
rights with promotion of women rights;
-Support the leadership of LGBT youth
and women for decision making on
concerning issues in societal context;
-Empowerment of LGBT youth and women
through human rights education and providing basic gear for generating income;
-Build the capacity of vulnerable
groups including LGBT youth, women, disable people, IDPS, street children,
through non-formal education programs and awareness raising activities;
-To ensure the protection and care of
LGBT youth and women neglect;
-Encourage for implementation of all
international conventions and standards on basic human rights.
